How Do I Prepare the Kitchen for the Technician?
Short answer
A quarter of an hour is plenty. Empty the appliance if it holds food or dishes, clear the worktop beside it, lift any rug on the way to it and shut the pets away. Ring Viking Repair HQ Los Angeles on (213) 320-7007 if something in the way cannot be moved.
Fifteen minutes that save half an hour
Work on a built-in begins with something coming off the front and being set down somewhere, so the kindest thing you can offer is room. Take the small appliances off the worktop beside the machine, shift the bin and the stool, and leave a path from the door to the kitchen wide enough for a bag of tools and a panel carried flat. Where the fault is in refrigeration, a cool box standing ready means the food is not sitting out while the diagnosis runs. Where it is a dishwasher, pull the racks out and empty them. None of this is compulsory and all of it buys the hour back.
What not to do before we arrive
Please do not strip the machine down to help. A panel that has been off and put back hides the evidence of what actually let go, and screws loose in a drawer are a fresh problem. Leave the gas supply, the refrigerant circuit and any wiring entirely alone; those belong to the technician. Switching the appliance off at its own wall switch or socket is fine, and anything behind a cover is not. And resist scrubbing the inside spotless: what is scorched, leaked or frosted, and exactly where, is half of the diagnosis before a tool comes out.
